Pit firing pottery is a new passion of mine. Put very simply, it involves putting burnished, bisque fired pots in a bonfire with oxides and organic materials such as seaweed, animal poo, banana skins etc that will colour the pots when burned. After the pots have cooled, they are cleaned and polished and can be absolutely stunning!
